SUGGESTION: There is a problem with the group study rooms downstairs. Generally, at least 4 rooms are being occupied by a single individual and sometimes reservations are made and it is only for one person. There are plenty of quiet study places – desks and chairs – located throughout the library. Could you please address this issue. My study group was forced to a table because there was no room available. Let people know that one person does not count as a group.
REPLY: I am sorry your group was unable to find a room in which to study. Yes, the sign-up sheets do say Group Study Rooms, but in the small print, we also say “for quiet study.” We had signs made up where individuals could offer to share the room with someone by hanging the sign on the door knob, but obviously this would not work in the case of your group. One hint I can give you is to plan ahead. We put out new sign up sheets as we close on Sunday evening. If someone from your group came in early on a Monday morning, s/he could sign up for a room for any time or day through the whole week. Also, if this is a last minute group get together, come up to the Check Out desk and ask a staff member if they would see if someone would move to an open area, so your group can study in a room. Meanwhile, I will bring up your complaint to the rest of the library staff to see if we can come up with a better solution.
